Description
Individual style with serious tonal versatility.
The Duesenberg 49er is a distinctive alternative to the usual suspects, combining classic single-cut style with a wonderfully individual aesthetic and a reputation for serious attention to detail. This 2010 example, finished in Pearl Blue, has all the ingredients that make Duesenberg such an appealing name among players who like their instruments to offer something a little different.
Beneath the striking exterior lies a versatile tonal combination, pairing a P-90-style neck pickup with a full-size humbucker at the bridge. It’s a pairing that opens up plenty of sonic territory, from open, rounded cleans and woody midrange character to sharper, more assertive tones with plenty of bite. There’s real appeal in the contrast between the two voices, while the responsive controls make it easy to find those sweet spots between them. Add the expressive touch of the string-through Bigsby-style vibrato system and you have a guitar with plenty of personality, both visually and sonically.
This example is in great played condition, with only the faintest signs of fret wear, some surface marks and swirling from use, and minimal tarnish to the hardware. There is also a small ding on the inside of the cutaway near the binding.
An instrument with distinctive character, versatile tones and genuine individuality.
