Short scale with long legacy. This 1960 Fender Duo-Sonic is one of those pieces that reminds you why the so-called “student models” have become serious collector favourites. Lightweight, direct and full of character, it delivers that unmistakable early Fender snap with a dry, woody edge that records beautifully and cuts through without ever getting harsh.

There’s a simplicity here that just works. The shorter scale gives it a slinky, immediate feel, while the pickups bring out a raw, articulate voice that sits somewhere between a Strat and a Tele. It’s the kind of guitar that asks you to play differently in the best way.

It’s aged exactly how you’d hope. The finish shows honest, time-earned wear, the hardware has developed a fair amount of tarnish and there’s slight fret wear with some pitting in the first few positions. None of it affects how it plays or performs. The tuners have been changed at some point, with the originals included in the case. Speaking of which, it comes with its original hard case, though the handle is no longer present.
