There’s something about a well played Telecaster that feels instantly familiar and this 2012 American Special is exactly that kind of guitar. Built in the USA by Fender, it delivers all the grit, twang and no-nonsense attitude you’d expect, with a slightly road-worn edge that only adds to its appeal.

The American Special series had always been about cutting straight to the point - big tones, comfortable playability and a workhorse reliability that suits everything from bar gigs to studio sessions. This one has opened up nicely over time, with a lively, resonant feel and that unmistakable Tele twang on tap, whether you’re digging in at the bridge or mellowing out on the neck pickup.

It’s in good used condition, with some fret wear that doesn’t hinder playability. The back of the neck has been taken down to raw, semi-exposed Maple with woody feel, giving it a broken-in character. Cosmetically, there are a couple of small dings and chips around the body but nothing that detracts from its overall look; just honest signs of use. This one’s a proper player’s Tele with character where it counts.
