Dark, stripped back and built for pure impact, this Squier Jim Root Telecaster captures the aggressive simplicity that made the original design so iconic. Finished in stealthy black with a minimalist appeal, it’s a guitar that feels purpose built for heavy tones and uncompromising performance.

This particular example has been tastefully upgraded to push its performance even further. A set of Seymour Duncan pickups delivers serious output and tight, articulate aggression: perfect for crushing rhythm work and searing leads. Hipshot locking tuners provide rock-solid tuning stability, while GraphTech nut and saddles helps maximise sustain and tuning accuracy. Together, these upgrades make the instrument feel more refined, responsive and stage-ready. The pick guard has also been swapped out for a none-more-black vibe.

Playability is excellent, with no fret wear to report. The satin finish shows a little sheen and smudging in the high-contact areas where it has been played, adding a touch of honest character. There’s also a small ding on the lower front edge near the switch, but nothing that distracts too heavily from the overall look or performance of the guitar.

It’s a straightforward, no-nonsense Tele built to handle high gain, heavy riffs and serious attitude.
