Main Features

  • Industry-leading octave pedal with advanced tracking technology for ultra-precise, latency-free response
  • Vintage mode: authentic recreation of the celebrated 1982 OC-2’s warm mono octave sound
  • Poly mode: enhanced chord-friendly octave effects with flexible Range control for selective note application
  • New octave-up effect, usable alone or paired with octave-down for richer tonal possibilities
  • Dedicated guitar/bass mode switch optimises tracking performance for each instrument
  • Direct output allows separate routing of dry and effected signals for versatile stage and studio setups
  • Robust build quality backed by the BOSS five-year warranty

Superior Octave Performance and Tracking Technology

Powered by the latest real-time processing from BOSS, the OC-5 delivers the most natural and expressive octave effects available today. The refined tracking engine enables flawless tracking with no latency, providing a fluid playing experience whether using single notes or complex chords. Enjoy expanded polyphonic capabilities and a wider octave range suitable for diverse musical styles.

Classic Vintage Tone with Modern Accuracy

Invoke the iconic voice of the original OC-2 pedal with Vintage mode, celebrated for its smooth yet present octave character that sits beautifully in any mix. Enhanced by the new tracking engine, Vintage mode offers improved tracking and control over -1 and -2 octave levels alongside the direct dry signal, ensuring endless tonal versatility.

Advanced Poly Mode for Chord Playing

Play full chords with flawless octave effects in Poly mode. The adjustable Range knob lets you restrict octave processing to the lowest notes or apply it across a wider range, ideal for blending octave basslines with undistorted higher-register chords. Set the Range knob to ‘Lowest’ to isolate the octave effect exclusively on the bottom note of any chord for precise tonal shaping.

Explore Extra Range with Octave-up

Add a new dimension to your sound with the dedicated octave-up function. Use the +1 OCT knob to dial in subtle or dramatic octave-up layers, perfect for crafting unique solo tones, faux 12-string sounds, or thick, harmonically rich chord voicings when combined with octave-down effects.

Flexible Connectivity and Instrument Switching

The OC-5’s dedicated guitar/bass switch optimises tracking and tone for your instrument, ensuring the best response every time. The Direct Out jack facilitates wet/dry signal setups by routing unaffected and effected sounds separately to multiple amps or mixing channels—ideal for live and studio environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

➤ What is the difference between Vintage and Poly modes on the OC-5?
Vintage mode faithfully reproduces the classic mono octave sound of the OC-2 pedal, ideal for single notes, while Poly mode enhances polyphonic chord playing by applying octave effects to multiple notes with adjustable range settings.

➤ Can I use the OC-5 with both guitar and bass?
Yes, the OC-5 features a dedicated guitar/bass switch that optimises the tracking engine for each instrument’s unique characteristics, ensuring the best performance regardless of your setup.

➤ How does the Range knob function in Poly mode?
The Range knob allows you to select the note range where the octave effect is applied. At the ‘Lowest’ setting, the effect applies only to the lowest note in a chord, while higher settings broaden the effect across multiple notes.

➤ Is it possible to blend the octave-up effect with octave-down sounds?
Yes, the OC-5’s octave-up effect can be blended with octave-down tones, allowing you to create fuller, more complex octave layers for rich chords and leads.

➤ What connectivity options does the OC-5 offer for live or studio use?
The pedal includes a Direct Out jack for sending dry and effected signals to separate amps or mixer channels, enabling advanced wet/dry setups and greater tonal flexibility.
