There’s no denying the appeal of a well-used Telecaster and this 50th anniversary model stands apart from the crowd. Made in Japan, this one has certainly lived a life. With its distinctive pearloid binding, gold hardware and aftermarket humbucker fitted to the neck position, it has a style all of its own.
The frets remain free from wear, while the hardware has developed noticeable tarnish and fading for further character. The finish tells more of a story with a large amount of scuffs, scratches, dings and marks across the instrument. This is very much a used example rather than a pristine collector piece.
The guitar is fitted with a Fishman bridge but the piezo element is currently disconnected, so this should be considered a fitting rather than a working piezo system.
A distinctive and not too common Japanese Fender with plenty of history written into the finish, this is an instrument for someone who appreciates character, rather than showroom perfection.
