Steinberg Cubase Pro 8 Audio/MIDI Recording Software (Educational)
Steinberg's Cubase Pro 8 offers new audio tools, greater productivity and more musical creativity and unites technical innovation and artistic inspiration in one powerful, accessible production environment.
This is an educational version and is only available to educational institutes, teachers and students.
Cubase Pro 8 unites technical innovation and artistic inspiration in one awesomely powerful yet instantly accessible music production environment. Sleeker, more efficient, more creative and offering new audio tools and instruments, Cubase Pro 8 will inspire the seasoned pro and talented newcomer alike. A new audio engine, window handling paradigm and automation toolset allow you to record and mix even more productively. Yet Cubase Pro 8 also offers novel ways of working with chords, superb virtual instruments and amps, outstanding FX plug-ins, and blends the latest audio technology with next-generation music tools to offer an exceptionally intuitive workflow.
    NEW in Cubase Pro 8
    Massive Engine Rebuild
Cubase 8 is probably the most efficient, and fast DAW software available today. For this version Steinberg have completely rebuilt the entire engine that runs Cubase to make it much faster, more fluid, more snappy. During development, they set up pretty ambitious target benchmarks, and the results speak for themselves. Large projects open up to 4 times faster, the MixConsole twice as fast. The new audio engine now also means that even the most complex instruments and plug-ins run with stunning efficiency. This allows a lot lower latency while not out-powering your computer.
    ASIO Guard 2
ASIO Guard 2 uses low latencies just on the tracks where latency matters while using a larger latency that saves performance for playback tracks. It now supports instrument tracks including multi-timbral and sample instruments that feature disk streaming. The internal ASIO-Guard buffering was extended to improve the audio processing performance. Simply record and monitor in real time even on CPU demanding projects.
    VCA Faders
On analogue consoles, VCA faders enabled the control of channel gain by using DC voltage, allowing the movement of a group of faders using a single master fader. VCA faders in Cubase Pro 8 not only assist you creating complex mixes, it also enables more advanced automation workflows using the Combine VCA fader automation feature: merge the automation curve of a VCA fader with the automation curve of a controlled fader or fader groups.
    Direct Routing
Cubase Pro 8 includes a new direct routing section in MixConsole that allows you to set up group routing destinations for multiple channels, buses and stems at once with a single click. Create different mix versions of any session at once.
    Improved Channel Strip EQ
The channel strip EQ module provides additional mouse-over value readouts for gain, frequency and the equivalent in note pitch. Enter pitch notes or cent values instead of Hz frequencies for each band. The Pre section now offers selectable slopes of 6, 12 (default), 24, 36 and 48 for high-cut and low-cut.
    Virgin Territories
Virgin territories in automation lanes improves handling of automation data: when activated, no automation data is written between two automated events on the same track, making it possible to freely use the space in between two automations for parameter adjustments.
    Wave Meters
With the new Wave Meters in Cubase Pro 8, upcoming audio events are displayed with the respective waveforms, scrolling through the mixer pane above the volume fader. No longer switch back and forth between the Project window and MixConsole to find out the current song position and check upcoming audio events within the project.
    Dockable Instrument Rack and MediaBay
MediaBay and the VST Instrument Rack can now be displayed to the right side of the Project window. The result is the new Rack Zone with improved efficiency, giving you more time to focus on your creative flow and reducing the number of open windows you need to manage.
    Redesigned Track List and Inspector
The redesigned Track List and Inspector offer now better readability. Track names are easier to find and the reduced set of track controls in the track list reduce clutter.
And with the new configuration tabs below the track list you can switch instantly between different track controls configurations. This displays only what you need to see in a specific workflow situation.
    Plug-in Manager
The new plug-in manager lets you arrange, sort and group your effects and instruments either at the top level or in custom submenus, making finding your plug-ins easier and letting you focus on what's really important. Create multiple collections as sub-sets of all installed effect and instruments and switch easily between them!
    Improved Windows Handling
Cubase 8 introduces a new windows handling paradigm including a new workspace organiser that makes for a more efficient workflow. Windows can be freely placed on any display and maximised, restored, minimised, tiled and cycled through by using standard Windows OS commands. Windows will now also group Cubase windows in the taskbar, preview window content and show mini icons. The 'Always On Top' mode now organises smaller plug-in windows even when working with maximised windows such the MixConsole.
    Render In-place
The new render in-place function allows you to bounce MIDI and audio parts easily. You can define exactly on what to include and for example render-in track FX in the newly created events. Trigger the command and a new audio track is created with all effects settings copied over from the original source track plus your rendered audio event, including intact event boundaries.
    Chord Pads
Chord pads are a great way to playfully and creatively compose with chords. Jam with chords and patterns in real time and remote control multiple parameters to change chords on the fly. The chord pads are playable via a MIDI keyboard and real-time parameters allow you to easily improvise chord performances by changing voicings, tensions and more as you go. Record your performance as MIDI events on any record-enabled MIDI or instrument track. Chord pads can also display a number of different chord symbol formats.
New ircle of 5ths and Proximity Chord Assistant Modes
You can visually select chords in the circle of 5th view or the new Proximity Assistant. The new Proximity Chord Assistant mode provides suggestions from a defined reference chord, taking a set of harmonic rules into account. The distance and colours of the suggestions from the reference chord (at the centre bottom of the window) convey a sense of how complex a suggestion is, in comparison to the reference chord. The circle of 5th mode shows you the chord relations as a classic circle of fifths visualisation. Best of all, these new visual modes of the Chord Assistant are also available directly from the new chord pads!
    MIDI Tempo Detection
The new MIDI tempo detection allows you to jam along onto a MIDI track without rigidly following the metronome. Even though your recording is entirely out of sync with the grid and tempo track, the new tempo detect function will reconstruct any tempo change you did and align your performance to the grid for further editing!
    VST Connect SE 3
VST Connect SE allows you to record audio and MIDI data over the internet. To make VST Connect SE even better, it now sports a redesigned graphic user interface and is fully integrated into Cubase, reducing the setup time and connection effort dramatically.

Steinberg UR22 2x2 USB Audio Interface
Highlighting two industry-acclaimed D-PRE microphone preamps, class-leading 24-bit/192 kHz converters and a rock- solid metal housing, the Steinberg UR22 audio and MIDI interface provides pure sound wherever you are. With a dedicated high- impedance switch, a separate headphones jack and phantom power supply, this portable 2-in/2-out device is the perfect choice for mobile musicians, touring DJs and everyone in between.
Together with the included Cubase DAW running on your PC or Mac computer, the UR22 audio and MIDI interface is a full-fledged mobile recording studio defined through total mobility, ultra-solid build and superb sound quality.
The microphone preamp is one of the key factors in recording — and that's why the UR22 interface is equipped with two stellar-sounding D-PREs. These preamps are the culmination of years of development by the experts at Yamaha. The result is a truly transparent and beautifully detailed sound that is unrivalled in this class. Whether you're looking to record acoustic instruments, vocals, an electric guitar or ambient textures, with the UR22 you can easily capture any audio source.
Just as important as the preamps are, of course, the converters. The UR22 includes first-rate A/D and D/A converters that provide supreme sonic fidelity. And where others come to a halt, the UR22 begins to shine. With a maximum sampling rate of 192 kHz and a resolution of 24 bits, you are more than ready to deliver future-proof music productions.
The UR22 is addicted to touring. It's small enough to be rushed from gig to gig and rugged enough to withstand all the rigours of the road. Built to the most exacting standards by Yamaha's experienced engineers, the UR22's full metal chassis is reassuringly solid. You're free to hit it with your drumstick, throw it into the tour bus or simply open a beer with it — thanks to its impressive manufacturing quality the tour-tested UR22 is always ready to roll.
And regardless of its size, the UR22 exhibits all the core features of its bigger brothers, the UR824 and the UR28M, allowing you to realise rock-solid recordings without restrictions. Simply connect it via USB to your computer and start making music without any additional power supply — and always in class-leading sound quality.
Great Things Come in Little Packages
The UR22 features all the connections needed for pro-sounding recordings. Its two Neutrik analogue XLR/TRS combo inputs with Peak LEDs and switchable +48V phantom power enable you to connect even the most valuable condenser microphones, whereas the Hi-Z switch on input 2 allows for direct recording of electric guitar or bass without the need to use an additional DI box.
Best of all, the UR22 offers latency-free hardware monitoring — what you play is what you immediately hear. The Mix knob allows you to seamlessly blend between the direct signal of your instrument and the output signal of your host. And thanks to the independent headphones and main output controls you can adjust the monitor and phones level individually. The MIDI I/O allows you to connect your keyboard or any other MIDI-compatible control device, such as pad controllers, footswitches and sound modules. Two TRS outputs, ultra-stable drivers and a USB 2.0 connection complement the feature set of this professional yet affordable device.
    A True Team Player
The UR22 is compatible with all major audio editing, mastering and music production software supporting the ASIO, Core Audio or WDM standard. Plus, the UR22 comes bundled with Cubase AI, a lean version of Steinberg's popular DAW. Based on the same core technologies as Steinberg's highly acclaimed Cubase DAW, the AI version offers a comprehensive feature set for composing, recording, editing and mixing. Run it together with the UR22 audio interface and you get a one-stop solution for recording music in studio quality.
Cubase users will benefit from additional features, such as auto-setup functionality, which enables the complete I/O setup to be handled directly from within Cubase. Once your UR22 interface has been installed, Cubase detects the device and automatically embeds it into Cubase's production environment — it couldn't be easier.
