    Simple, Elegant and Professional
Simple operation. Clean design. Studio-grade sound quality. Track16 exhibits these design principles through and through. And don't let its compact size deceive you. There's plenty of I/O available for a well-equipped personal studio, ready for multi-player recording sessions. Track16's pristine mic preamps, balanced line-level audio connections, and renowned MOTU engineering deliver world-class audio quality.
    Luxurious Metering
Track16 sets the bar high for detailed metering in such a compact interface. You get dedicated 7-segment main out meters, and configurable meters for all other analogue inputs and outputs. Just press the METERS button to toggle between the blue and white labels. It's easy to monitor your signal levels at a glance with Track16.
    One-Touch Operation
Simply press the button for the input or output you wish to control, and turn the knob. It's that simple. No fiddling with tiny displays. No guesswork. Just creative flow.
    Backlit Buttons
Often, we are called upon to work in studio or stage environments where the lighting conditions are not optimal. Track16's buttons are backlit with multi-colour LEDs to facilitate operation just about anywhere. From the factory, the buttons glow amber (orange), except for the currently selected channel, which glows bright green. Or, you can choose from six other colour schemes, in various combinations of green, red and amber.
    Studio Grade Sound
Track16 has been engineered with MOTU's renowned, award-winning audio interface technology. The result is the pristine audio quality and rock-solid performance that MOTU interfaces are known for worldwide. You can always record and mix with confidence, knowing that decades of engineering experience are behind you, every step of the way.
    Universal Connectivity
Thanks to MOTU's Hybrid interface technology, Track16 connects to any Mac or PC via FireWire or high-speed USB 2.0. Connect your mic, guitar, keyboard, and digital input, and you are ready to make pro-quality recordings.
    Solid Metal Chassis
Track16's aluminium alloy chassis is lightweight, yet incredibly sturdy and durable, and designed to withstand the rigors of the studio, stage, and tour bus. In a world awash with cheap plastic, the cool feeling of Track16's metal exterior in your hands is a reassuring reminder that you are holding quality engineering and construction.
Two Mic Inputs with Individual Preamps
Track16's mic inputs are equipped with pristine, transparent preamps and offer individually adjustable 48V phantom power and -20 dB pad. All settings can be adjusted directly using the MIC 1 and MIC 2 buttons, or from Track16's CueMix software running on your computer. Mic inputs can be operated individually or in stereo pairs, as needed.
    Two Guitar Inputs
Without proper impedance levels, direct 'DI' guitar input won't sound right when you run it through your guitar amp plug-ins and virtual stomp boxes. Track16's two guitar jacks provide high-impedance load characteristics suitable for passive and active pickups alike, to deliver proper guitar tone to your host software. For even more authentic feel and response when using virtual guitar amp and cabinet plug-ins, use a ZBox guitar impedance adapter.
    Two Pairs of Line Inputs
Track16 analogue inputs are designed to be flexible, so that you can address a wide range of recording situations. The balanced quarter-inch line inputs provide proper level matching for keyboards, analogue mixers, effects processors, or other gear with either -10 dB or +4 dB reference level input. The stereo eighth-inch 'mini' input is great for an iPad or other consumer devices.
    Main Outs and Line Outs
Connect a pair of powered studio monitors to the main outs. The line outs can be used for a variety of purposes, either mirroring the main outs (perhaps for a 2nd set of studio monitors) or acting as a completely independent output pair (for a separate mix going to a mixing board or stage wedges, for example). Because they can be programmed, the line outs offer tremendous flexibility.
    MIDI I/O
Track16 provides MIDI input and output featuring sample-accurate timing with supporting software. Connect a MIDI keyboard, sound module or control surface, and you are ready to go. The FireWire or USB connection to the computer carries both MIDI and audio so you don't need to connect an additional USB cable for MIDI.
    Two Headphone Jacks
Can't find your headphone adapter? No problem. Both quarter-inch and eighth-inch jacks are provided. Or connect two pairs of phones simultaneously. A second phone jack can be a life-saver when you need to finish the mix with your colleague in close proximity to neighbours or loved ones you don't want to disturb. The phones can mirror the main outs, with independent volume control, or they can mirror any other Track16 output pair.
    Digitally Controlled Analogue Trim
Track16's preamps deliver clean sound, 53 dB of gain, and adjustments in approximately 1 dB increments using the front-panel trims or the on-screen CueMix software. The gain adjustment itself is smooth, and the digital control gives you both precision and the ability to save and recall trim settings. So you get the best of both worlds: analogue trim with digital precision and control. Trim is adjusted at the input, before the mixer, so it applies to all mixes. Mix levels are controlled separately from trim, so you never sacrifice sound quality for a balanced mix. The optical digital inputs can be trimmed, too.
    Digital Input/Output
Digital transfers are an essential fact of daily studio life. Track16 supports all three industry standard optical formats: 8-channel ADAT (at 1x sample rates), 4-channel SMUX (at 2x sample rates), and 2-channel TOSLink (optical S/PDIF) at standard sample rates up to 96 kHz.
    CueMix Software
CueMix gives you comprehensive graphic control over your mix and other settings in Track16. CueMix can be operated side by side with any host audio software for Mac or Windows, and it can be controlled from the Mackie Control Universal Pro automated worksurface.
    Multi-touch iPad control
It's the ultimate hands-on experience: use TouchOSC software (sold separately) with a custom-designed template for your Track16 and enjoy hands-on control of all mixing, EQ and compressor settings. Refining your mix has never been this fluid and intuitive.
    Classic Reverb
CueMix FX Classic Reverb provides five different room types, three frequency bands with adjustable crossover points, shelf filtering, and reverb lengths up to 60 seconds. Each input, output and mix bus provides a send to the Classic Reverb processor, which then feeds reverb returns to mix buses and outputs, with a selectable split point between them to prevent send/return feedback loops.
    Modelled Analogue EQ
British analogue mixing consoles are renowned for their musical EQ profiles. The Track16 meticulously models these classic EQ curves to give you the very same, magical EQ settings found on these coveted desks. Seven separate filters are available on every input and output, including low-shelf and high-shelf, with intuitive graphic control of each EQ parameter.
    Classic Compression
Track16 provides a classic compressor on each input and output, so you can apply compression liberally with the flexibility to decide if and when you want to 'commit' to your mix. You can change Track16's compression settings at any time while recording or listening.
