The Epiphone SG is as close to being a USA made Gibson SG as a 'copy' can be, owing mainly to the fact that Gibson own the Epiphone brand, and have done so for over 50 years. The Epiphone SG therefore has the freedom to directly mimic the Gibson without any fear of patent or copyright infringement, giving the guitarist an opportunity to own and play a direct copy of its American big brother.
The Epiphone SG guitar represents great value for money. Built with the same construction as the USA made SG, this Chinese version features a quality rosewood fingerboard on a mahogany neck, in addition to Grover machine heads, which allow for more accurate tuning of the guitar.
The Epiphone SG is available in a Through Neck model in the form of the G400, or a cheaper Bolt Neck version, simply called the Epiphone SG. Fitted with two Gibson designed humbuckers, this model provides a brilliant way to join the SG club on a budget, with Epiphone SG guitars entering the market between £189 and £299 depending on the model.
