Cleaning your Mouthpiece
Always keep your mouthpiece clean! Any build-up of dirt in unhygienic, and the sound of an instrument can be affected if debris is allowed to constrict the backbore of the mouthpiece. Use warm, soapy water to loosen and debris and then brush firmly from both ends of the mouthpiece to remove any build-up of dirt. This must be done thoroughly in order to remove any threat of cross-contamination from germs, viruses or fungi that might build up on any accumulated debris.
Finish by polishing with a Denis Wick Silver Cloth (if the mouthpiece is silver) or a Lacquer Cloth (if the mouthpiece is gold).
Never use a brush with wire bristles, as these will scratch the plating on your mouthpiece.
Never share your mouthpiece with anybody, but if you do, make sure the mouthpiece is thoroughly cleaned and treated with an anti-bacterial agent afterwards.
