The Novation Bass Station II resurrects the classic Novation Bass Station, which was a popular synth in 90s dance music. However, this updated version adds a number of super-charged features to the original, including a new acid filter, a pattern-based sequencer and arpeggiator and a selection of analogue effects. The Bass Station II even features an analogue sine wave as one of its waveforms.

The Bass Station II is a brand new monophonic analogue synth, based on Novation's Bass Station, which enjoyed huge popularity in the early 90s. I happen to own an original Bass Station, which has a superb unique character, excelling at big squelchy basses and acid-type leads.
The Bass Station II is a brand new monophonic analogue synthesiser, which is based on the original iconic Bass Station from the early 90s. However, while the Bass Station II is more than capable of creating those oldskool basses and leads that the original became famed for, it can also do so much more...
If you're into your real analogue synths then you'll want to check this one out! Novation have added a new file to their SoundCloud page, which allows you to hear some recordings of the new Bass Station II so that you can get an idea of what it is capable of.
As an original Bass Station owner I was very keen to get another listen to this new synth as last time I heard it, it was still in the prototype stage. Having listened to the audio file on SoundCloud, I have to say that I'm extremely excited for when this synth is released. It's still definitely got that original Bass Station character which I love, but it's got an altogether bigger sound and lots more features, which means that it is much more flexible than my original rack unit, and it can potentially sound a lot dirtier!!!
We were recently joined by Chris Calcutt from Focusrite Novation who showed us the fantastic new Bass Station II analogue synth. As I own an original Bass Station rack, I also brought this in so that we could display them side-by-side and listen to the differences between the two. I have to admit that I was blown away by the powerful sound of the Bass Station II, but also liked how it could make some real oldskool sounds as well! Check out the new Bass Station II in the in-depth demonstration video below:

Novation have just announced that they're bringing back a classic! Introducing the Bass Station II - a brand new analogue synth based on the original Bass Station but re-worked for the modern era. If you've heard the original then this will certainly excite you because this synth was capable of creating super warm bass sounds as well as screaming leads.
