Choosing an audio interface can be a difficult task. With so many different models and specifications, how do you know that you're making the right choice? Of course, the best way to find out more is always to drop into our pro-music superstore in Bournemouth or give us a call on 01202 597180, and we will be happy to offer our expert recommendations based on your needs.

The Hood Internet are best known for their mashup mixtapes and their quest to deliver dancefloor-friendly tracks to different cities across the world.
Their set-up revolves around two MacBooks, each running Ableton Live software, with each connected to a separate Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 interface. The Scarlett 2i4s are then hooked up to separate channels of a DJ mixer, allowing them to control each signal in the same way you would if you had two turntables fed into a mixer.
In addition to this, the Scarlett 2i4's preamps make it an ideal interface for use in a home or mobile recording set-up, and that's exactly what The Hood Internet do, running one alongside Ableton again.
Focusrite's Scarlett and Saffire interfaces have been adopted by many professional and home recording artists and producers across the world. Given their price, the quality of the preamps and converters on these units have made them into two of the most popular interface ranges ever! However, whilst the Scarlett line has seen a number of new models introduced recently, the Saffire range has remained largely the same for a good few years now. So, with the newer Scarlett models providing USB 2.0 alternatives to many of the interfaces in the Saffire range, does this mean that the Saffires are edging closer towards discontinuation? Read on and we'll bust the myths and explain the differences between these popular lines...

Hello... I'm Marc... and I'm a gear junky...! I've been playing the guitar and gigging in various bands for many years and in 2012 I got myself a job at Absolute Music to feed my habit and share my passion and knowledge of the products that I know and love. I'm going to use my blog to write short reviews of some of my favourite products to hopefully help others in their quest for finding the right gear for their needs and budget.
In this review I'm going to be talking about the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB audio interface, which happens to be my interface of choice in my own home studio...
Focusrite have just this instant announced two new USB 2.0 interfaces: the Scarlett 6i6 and 18i8. These beautiful looking devices join the existing (and very popular) family of Scarlett interfaces to make a range that should have a product to suit the needs of almost everybody!
As you can probably guess, the Scarlett 6i6 is a 6-in, 6-out device, whereas the Scarlett 18i8 is an 18-in, 8-out interface, with both being aimed at artists, producers, bands and home-studio owners. Of course, both feature a number of Focusrite's award-winning mic preamps and 24bit/96kHz conversion and both will also work with iOS devices such as the iPad using an optional Apple Camera Connection Kit (sold separately).
We were recently joined by Chris Calcutt from Focusrite Novation who talked us through their new Scarlett 18i20 interface! With 8 analogue inputs/mic pres, 10 analogue outputs, plus S/PDIF and ADAT connectivity, this powerful USB 2.0 interface can provide a maximum of 18 inputs and 20 outputs! It even ships with Mix Control software, which allows you to configure all the routings of the interface with ease!
