The Arturia MicroBrute is a compact analogue synth with mini-keys. However, despite its size, it features plenty of hands-on controls and a huge, aggressive, analogue sound, which is perfect for big basses and tearing leads.
The MicroBrute also features a classic Steiner Parker multimode filter, an external audio input, a step sequencer, plus Arturia's unique Metalizer and Brute Factor controls.
If you want to get your hands on one asap then you will need to hurry, because our first delivery is selling fast! More due in soon though.

If you own a Korg Monotron/Monotribe compact analogue synth or are thinking about bagging one (or more) before the end of the year, then Korg want to hear what you can do with it/them! To be more specific, Korg want you to use your Monotron(s) and/or Monotribe to make some unique sound effects and/or background music. The best entries will be used to create the soundtrack and FX for a computer game 'mash-up video', due for release early next year.
Entries must be submitted no later than 31st December 2013 and the most exciting part is that the person who makes the best mini-sound library (as judged by Korg) will receive a special 50th anniversary MicroKorg Gold*!

It's official... analogue synths are well and truly making a comeback. Let's face it: who can resist that unmistakable warm sound that only a true analogue instrument will give you? However, what happens if you crave that analogue sound but you're on a really tight budget? Like less than £300? Well, Arturia have just announced a smaller version of their popular MiniBrute and with a sub £260 price tag, we're expecting it's going to prove very popular...
The original Arturia MiniBrute is famed for having an aggressive, in-your-face analogue character, which is helped by its unique Brute Factor and Metalizer features. The MicroBrute has exactly the same sound engine as the MiniBrute and while it still features plenty of hands-on controls, it is presented in a smaller format with mini keys. Check it out in the video below...

If you're after a synthesiser with a deep, warm analogue sound then you can't go wrong with a Dave Smith! With a rich background in analogue synth design and creation, Dave Smith Instruments have built on the foundations that they laid with their classic Prophet synths and now offer a selection of synths for different needs and budgets right up to their flagship new Prophet 12, which combines the best of both the analogue and digital worlds in one mighty 12 voice polyphonic synth.
The Mopho module is Dave Smith Instruments' most affordable synth (also available in a compact keyboard version), essentially providing you with a single Prophet 08 voice, with a 100% analogue signal path, two oscillators and two sub octave generators, making it amazing for deep basses as well as classic analogue leads.

For those who haven't bought one yet, the wait is finally over and you can now get hands on with the awesome new Dave Smith Instruments Prophet 12 analogue synthesiser in our Bournemouth pro-music superstore (CLICK HERE to find us). The Prophet 12 is a 12 voice analogue/digital hybrid synth with four oscillators per voice and loads of built-in effects. Believe us when we say that it sounds absolutely incredible!
Having demoed the Prophet 12, I have to say that its versatility completely blew me away. It could do everything from classic analogue leads and pads right through to some of the filthiest bass sounds that I'd ever heard! Just add a touch of distortion, crank up the number of voices in Unison mode and start to detune and you'll know exactly what I mean!

Moog have recently released a video showing how you can use the Moog Sub Phatty to create your own basic analogue kick, snare and hi-hat sounds. They've also provided a free pdf guide to creating your own percussion sounds. CLICK HERE to download it.
Check out the video below, which demonstrates that the Sub Phatty isn't just a bass and lead machine, but it's also more than capable of creating classic electronic percussion sounds, which you can then save as presets or sample for manipulation in your sampler of choice.
