KORG SV-1 - INTRODUCTION
Here is an instrument that I have been longing to get my hands on - The Korg SV-1 Piano. The SV stands for 'Stage Vintage' and that it exactly what it appears to be; a Stage Piano that looks as if it would have felt very much at home in the Seventies. I know that many people like me would wish that it was more of a Synth and Piano combination, but it is not! I therefore intend to concentrate this review on what it is rather than what it is not. I will be looking at the 73-note version, which is a lovely rich burgundy colour with black rounded ends...

Solid State Logic (SSL)… a name renowned in the music production world for manufacturing some seriously tasty professional mixing desks! Honestly, if you have never heard of this company before, their products really are something to get very excited about, having found homes in numerous top-end professional studios across the world. Their latest offering, the Nucleus, is a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) controller and audio interface and despite still costing over three grand, it is most definitely a significant step towards allowing the home user to incorporate an SSL product into their set-up. But what exactly makes this product so special? Does it warrant its price tag? How does it stand up to the Mackie Control Universal Pro? These are all things that I am going to investigate in this review, so stay tuned…

First IK Multimedia allowed you to hook up your guitar with your phone...
... then they made it possible to connect a microphone...
... now they have given you the tools to plug in a MIDI device!
iRig MIDI is an extremely portable Core MIDI interface for iOS, which alows you to connect any MIDI compatible device to your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
So, now it is possible to hook up a hardware synthesiser, a MIDI controller/keyboard, a drum machine, drum pads, pedal boards, etc, etc, etc. and have them control the included SampleTank app, or any other MIDI compatible application such as Garageband. Or, you can do the whole thing in reverse and use your application to control external MIDI equipment, such as a synth/sound module, a DAW or lighting systems!

Being a D-D-D-D-DJ, these are the types of review that I look forward to the most! So instead of blabbering on for ages, I’m just going to jump straight on in behind these digital wheels of steel and see if they live up to the hype!

Check out this absolutely crazy video of Madeon (tipped to be the next Deadmau5) using a Novation Launchpad, a Novation Zero SL Mk II Controller, Ableton Live and FL Studio to mash up 39 pop songs! We can't even imagine how long this must have taken to plan and learn, but it sounds amazing and all the products work seamlessly together to allow you to achieve the smoothest workflow possible.
