Focusrite released its original Red Range back in 1993, which soon began to receive rave reviews and attract the attention of top studio studio owners all over the world thanks to its ability to work well with almost any microphone and beautiful signature sound that was different to everything else on the market.
At the beginning of this year, Focusrite announced that they would be bringing back their famous Red preamp with the Red 1 500 Series Mic Pre, featuring the same circuit topology and components as the original transformer-based mic pre, but in a new, modern design, allowing it to become part of a larger modular system. This new design allows it be mounted in a fixed studio, or, because of its compact size, it can also be taken on the road for applications such as location recording.
