BOSS ANNOUNCE DSP-POWERED TE-2, MO-2 & DA-2 COMPACT PEDALS

Enhancing the ubiquitous line of BOSS compacts, Roland have announced the production of three more flavours of guitar goodness, the TE-2 Tera Echo, DA-2 Adaptive Distortion and MO-2 Multi Overtone. Each give away their sonic character in their name (as with many of the BOSS compacts that have gone before them), and each is just as useable, but a new BOSS DSP technology may be about to change the playing field…

BOSS describe the TE-2 Tera Echo as capable of “Dynamic, rich, spacious echo and ambience effects”. As the 100^th^ pedal in the Boss stomp box series, it brings with it this new “reactive” BOSS DSP technology, where the effect is responsive to volume changes and playing dynamics. This new Multi-Dimensional Processing (MDP) approach allows control over the effect through natural musical expressiveness.

The BOSS MO-2 Multi Overtone invites you to “Unlock your guitar’s harmonic potential”. Using the same reactive MDP technology as the TE-2, the MO-2 takes your guitar’s harmonic content and analyses it to create unique and developing resonant tones. The result is a harmonically rich sound that complements and enhances your natural guitar tone.

You may have spotted a theme, and yes, the new BOSS DA-2 Adaptive Distortion joins the Multi-Dimensional Processing club. On the face of it, it looks like a familiar distortion pedal, but under the hood the DSP is working hard to run multiple distortion processors simultaneously. The result is a distorted tone that responds just right across the whole neck and responds to dynamic playing like no other distortion pedal can.

Will the new DSP-powered compact pedals from Roland set the musical world on fire with new and previously unattainable sounds? They might.
