In Summary

With the new licencing models, Avid have given their users various options, dependant on individual circumstances. Although, some may feel that subscribing indefinitely will be an expensive option, it does give the best flexibility, includes ongoing support, and you will always have the latest version.

Purchasing the software outright will suit some people, especially those that don’t tend to upgrade regularly. Yes, it is quite expensive initially, but you OWN the software indefinitely – it won’t stop working when your subscription lapses!

Pro Tools First is ideal for those wanting to learn Pro Tools, you can use it indefinitely, but the cost of Cloud-based song storage may mean you will want to switch to either a perpetual licence, or subscription in the future. At least it’s FREE for those that want to learn the Pro Tools way!
