Komplete Kontrol MK2
Alongside the announcement of MK3 Maschine, Native Instruments have just launched a new generation of Komplete Kontrol S49 and S61 controllers.

These new MK2 Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S49 and Komplete Kontrol S61 controllers have been given some serious upgrades, most immediately noticeable is the addition of the 2 vivid colour screens, you will also notice a touch strip for additional expression control. The hardware, such as the pitch and mod wheels and the actual knobs feel more sturdy and substantial to the touch. The new 4-directional push encoder gives the user an improved experience for sound browsing and project navigation within the DAW. Native Instruments have also made it quicker to change between preset sounds and give you the option of instant previews, rather than having to wait for the sound to fully load. It’s these and other workflow improvements that make these MK2 Kontrol keyboards a big step up from their predecessors.

Despite all these improvements and changes, Native Instruments have not cut any corners in other areas, there’s still a lot of the reputable functionality of the original S-Series Kontrol keyboards such as the pro-grade Fatar keybeds with RGB lights above each key to highlight drum cells, key switches, chords and scales etc as well as the usual MIDI in/out, USB 2.0 power and tag-based preset browsing.

Included with the new Kontrol S-49 and S-61 controllers is the hugely popular Komplete 11 Select bundle of instruments and effects. The Native Instruments S-49 and S-61 also have full VSTi support and pre-mapped control of Komplete instruments and hundreds of Native Kontrol Standard (NKS) instruments from other manufacturers. Going further than just the standard DAW compatibility, the new Kontrol keyboards will allow you to control basic mix functions in Logic Pro X and Ableton (with Nuendo and Cubase expected to join the pack later in the year).
