Alongside the launch of their new smartphone friendly mixer, the GO:MIXER, Roland has also just announced the arrival of a series of compact, high-resolution and high-value USB interfaces. The Rubix series, comprising of the 22, 24 and 44 models, boasts high-resolution audio capturing up to 24-bit/192kHz for PC and Mac.

With the Rubix series Roland promises “Studio-grade sound you can take anywhere” and from the looks of the spec on these units, it’s highly likely that they will succeed. The low-noise mic inputs are paired up with Hi-Z inputs for guitar and an extensively shielded design to make a compact, rugged and reliable USB interface unit. If you are looking to take this unit out and about with you then you will certainly find the highly visible level and clip indicators a welcome addition. Not only this but if you are looking to get ultra portable, all of the interfaces in the Rubix series support iPad integration.

The Rubix 22 is a simple 2-in/2-out USB interface that also has MIDI in/out ports, low latency and ground lift switches for quiet operation in various environments. Users of the Rubix 22 will also be treated to access to Ableton Live Lite which seamlessly integrates with the Rubix straight out of the box.

The Rubix 24 and Rubix 44 is where things get really interesting. These models feature 2-in/4-out and 4-in/4-out, respectively, along with the MIDI in/out, ground lift and low latency also featured in the 22 model. But wait...the cherry on the cake that really caught our eye is the inclusion of an on-board compressor/limiter, which will be very handy when recording dynamic elements such as an excitable singer or drummer, providing peace of mind when recording on the fly.
