Before we go any further, we should introduce you to the makers of the VoxGuard and a heap of other nifty products. Although its creations are fairly new to the absolutemusic roster, Primacoustic has been making musical gear for over 30 years, with at least half of that experience focusing on acoustic and soundproofing treatments for live and studio set-ups.
With a range that includes everything from monitor isolators to full room kits, it’s no wonder that Primacoustic is a favourite with some of the world’s leading engineers and producers.
One-stop solution
Primacoustic has recently released a range of acoustic treatments for the studio called Isotools, and our favourite is the VoxGuard.
Made from high-density open-cell acoustic foam, the VoxGuard is a high-performance ambient noise attenuator… in real speak, it’s an acoustic barrier that surrounds the mic and stops unwanted sounds contaminating your recordings.
This nearfield absorber works by creating an acoustic boundary around the microphone, eliminating room reflections and ambient noise from entering the mic. At the same time, the VoxGuard keeps the vocals contained in the space around the microphone, resulting in a focused, clean sound.
It’s a winner
There are various acoustic screens on the market, but Primacoustic is proud to boast that the VoxGuard is one of the lightest and largest. Despite being 50 percent larger than similarly priced products, the VoxGuard is extremely lightweight so can be easily transported between studios and sessions.

The other Isotools…
The Crashguard isolates a drum mic to attenuate the sound of cymbals. This reduces interference between the two sources thus enabling greater control over the sound of the drum.
Recoil Stabilizers sit under your nearfields to improve transient response and imaging, tighten up the bass and eliminate resonance and phase anomalies.
Tri-Pads isolate mic stands from the floor, eliminating disruptive resonance from entering the mic.
The KickStand is a heavy boom-arm isolator that combines a stabilising base with an isolation pad to eliminate resonance from stage, drum riser and studio floor.
