Hold on to your hats for a totally new experience in amp and effects modelling. It’s time for your guitar sound to hit high-definition, thanks to the newest POD on the block…

Take sound to a new level

Top-of-the range in the new POD HD series, the HD500 offers amp models that defy the accepted standard. They feel, behave and interact with previously unachievable realism, giving you an entirely new playing experience. Giving it a quick preview in our showroom, it really does feel like nothing we’ve tried before.

A quick look at the specs and you realise why the sound is so radical. The HD500 represents a giant leap forward as it’s the only multi-effects pedal to boast 16 state-of-the-art Line 6 HD amp models, over 100 modern and vintage-style M-class effects and a superb arsenal of ins and outs.

Amping it up

Dialing through the presets, we found a fab collection of freshly modelled amps, many of which are new to the POD series, and all essential for guitarists who require a wide variety of tones in one streamlined package.

The 16 HD amp models are: Fender Twin Reverb, Bassman and Blackface Deluxe Reverb; Gibson EH-185; Hiwatt Custom 100; Supro S6616; Divided By 13 JRT9/15; Dr Z Route 66; Vox AC15 and AC30; Marshall JTM-45 MkII and JCM-800 (2204); Bogner Uberschall; Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier; Park 75; and ENGL Fireball 100. Phew!

Check those effects

Made famous by Line 6’s M13 and M9 stompbox modellers, M-Class effects are the new stage-standards. The HD500 features over 110 M-Class effects and with this wide tonal palette, you can sound like anyone under the sun… or create something totally unique.

Select from over 30 distortions, EQs, compressors and pitch effects; over 35 analogue and digital delays, wahs and reverbs; and over 45 swirly phases, filters and other mods. This array is mind-boggling enough, but we also love the fact that you can use up to eight at once!

And that’s not all

This unit is utterly flexible and will suit all kinds of styles and all kinds of venues. You’ve got the option of mixing and matching amps and pedals in multiple preset rigs at the stomp of a switch. You can also scale from an instantly routable signal chain up to the flexibility of a MIDI switching system and beyond.

Set-up wise, the HD500 will connect to just about anything and everything, analogue or digital, balanced or unbalanced, whether for amplication or recording.

Oh, and there’s just time to mention the 512 user-writable preset locations for your own creations, the 48-second looper, the built-in tuner and the free editor/librarian software that, like all things Line 6, is totally intuitive.

If you fancy hearing what the HD500 can do, come in-store to give it a stomp in our showroom and prepare to fall in love!

Another pair of PODs

Joining the HD500 on the high-definition POD block are the equally impressive but slightly lesser spec’d HD300 (currently £259) and HD400 (currently £339).
