Me again - this time with a review we wrote for our in-store brochure on the cool new update of Maschine.

NATIVE INSTRUMENTS MASCHINE 1.5

Thanks to its new version 1.5 update, Native Instruments' groove production program, Maschine, just got even more powerful and creative…

Maschine has always been a favourite with DJs and live musicians, as it combines the flexibility of computer-based music production with the tactile immediacy of a standalone groovebox in one creative tool. And with the new 1.5 update (available for free download to existing users), groove production goes to the next level…

RISE OF THE MASCHINE

Integrating the flexibility of computer-based music production with the hands-on creative clout of MPC-style hardware, Maschine is the next step in beat production. Once you touch the hugely playable controller, the slick, intuitive and immensely fun workflow takes over, allowing you to stay focused on what matters: the groove.

Maschine’s blending of classic feel and cutting edge makes it the perfect tool used on its own, performing in the club, or working within your DAW.

FEELING GROOVY

Incorporating the iconic strengths of the MPC, including the intuitive pad layout, 16 velocity levels, Note Repeat and the ability to import Akai MPC files, Maschine then breaks free of hardware-only limitations. Its workflow means you can go from a rough sketch to professional production in no time.

The easy-to-arrange sequencer, intuitive sampling, re-sampling and slicing features, and fully integrated FX and automation keep you on top of your production. Plenty of deluxe sample ammunition is provided via a staggering 6GB of drums, synths, percussion, strings loops and more, and you can easily hook up your existing gear to Maschine; it finds a home in any set-up.

INTEGRATE IS GREAT

Maschine’s immense versatility means it also excels when working with your existing studio set-up. Need to freshen up an idea from your DAW? Open Maschine inside your project and sequence some beats. Got a good groove flowing in Maschine? Drag and drop sections, loops or full tracks directly into your DAW as either audio or MIDI. Add professional effects and processing directly from the hardware controller for full
control over your sound.

Combined with Maschine’s vast library of kits and loops, many prepared by renowned beat-makers, artists and sound designers, you have a powerhouse capable of revolutionising your studio productions beyond belief.

PERFECT FOR LIVE USE

Set Maschine loose in a club or live environment and it’ll tear the joint up with its heavyweight punch. Its super-sturdy build, premium pads and knobs are perfect for performing in uncompromising conditions, and with the complete visual feedback provided by the screens and backlit buttons, Maschine thrives free of mouse and keyboard control.

Use Maschine live as a solo instrument for performing your own productions or sync it up with other gear with the minimum of fuss. What’s more, you can instantly switch into MIDI mode and use it as a controller for any other software such as the tightly integrated Traktor Pro DJ.

Perform with Maschine once, and we reckon you’ll never leave home without it again.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT MASCHINE

“It’s everything that’s great about old-school grooveboxes in a thoroughly new-school package, and it offers more sheer fun factor than we can remember having with anything else we’ve ever plugged into a computer.” Computer Music magazine

“As perhaps the ultimate groove instrument, Maschine bridges the gap between the familiarity and reliability of highly integrated hardware control and the boundless sonic flexibility that software affords.” Electronic Musician magazine

As Always you can get a fantastic deal on NATIVE INSTRUMENTS MASCHINE 1.5 in our store.

  • I love NI Maschine. Its exactly what I've been looking for ages. I love Akai MPC's but I needed that new school integration. Maschine does the integration and way more.

If you haven't played with Maschine yet... go and now and do so.
