M4SONIC BEATPORT INTERVIEW

Novation Launchpad SFor anyone who hasn't heard of M4SONIC, you seriously need to check out the video below. Based in Adelaide, Australia, this classically trained pianist found that his skills transferred well over to the Novation Launchpad, where he was able to trigger drum samples with one hand and a melody with the other. This takes some serious skills and co-ordination and as he explains in this interview, a LOAD of practice!

In this interview with Beatport, M4SONIC explains how his original video (CLICK HERE to watch it) went viral after he sent it to Novation and how it's lead to him being asked to produce a remix for Empire of the Sun, an act that he used to listen to as a teenager. In the video below he demonstrates his skills by performing his remix live on two Novation Launchpad S controllers.

The Novation Launchpad is a popular controller for working with DJ and production programs with a matrix layout. It allows you to trigger samples and loops on-the-fly, plus control levels and effects as well as loads more, meaning that you can get extremely creative when it comes to remixing live and testing out new production ideas.

Although the Launchpad was originally designed for use with Ableton Live software, the updated Launchpad S is also compatible with other programs such as FL Studio. You can even use it to control iPad apps with the relevant adapter (sold separately).

The updated Launchpad S is also faster and brighter than the original model, making it more natural to work with, as well as a more visually engaging product.
