  • FOCUSRITE SCARLETT 18i6 AND 8i6 INTERFACES

Posted on March 24, 2011 by Joe Stachowiak

If you have been following us on Facebook/Twitter then you may have noticed a lot of news coming from the Focusrite camp recently. As usual, a lot of it has been to do with big name artists and award-winning producers (e.g. Carl Cox, Adrian Bushby) telling us how they use Focusrite products in their professional set-ups, and why they rate them so much, which is all interesting stuff to learn about. However, perhaps the most exciting nugget of news from Focusrite was the announcement of their new Scarlett interfaces! In fact, this announcement is definitely worthy of being described as much more than a ‘nugget’ of news… it’s far more like a large rock or boulder… but that’s not really relevant so I’ll shut up!

  • KORG MICRO MACHINES

    KORG MICRO SERIES

If you’re short on space but you still need power, sounds and sampling in abundance, look no further than the micro series from Korg…

There are plenty of people out there who’ll tell you that ‘size isn’t everything’ and ‘small is beautiful’ and these two innocent phrases translate perfectly to Korg’s ‘micro’ products. Here’s a quick rundown of the Korg instruments that have taken a leaf out of Napoleon’s book…

  • MOOG SLIM PHATTY

Posted on March 10, 2011 by Joe Stachowiak

Hot on the heels of the Voyager XL comes an offering at the other end of the scale. It’s the most portable and most affordable Moog synth yet…

The compact Moog Little Phatty keyboard caused something of a stir when it was first released. It offered a lighter array of controls than its big brother, the Voyager, but was still every part a fat-sounding and versatile Moog synth. Moog has since turned its shrinking ray beam on to the Little Phatty itself to bring us the Slim Phatty, an even smaller offering but with exactly the same sound as its bigger brother. All the bass bin-endangering analogue of the Little Phatty but sans keyboard and sans impact on the wallet!

  • NORD STAGE 2

Posted on March 8, 2011 by Joe Stachowiak

Much of the recent NAMM 2011 piano-emulation talk has been dominated by the monster that is the Korg Kronos. However, another product that certainly deserves some recognition in this area is the new Nord Stage 2 keyboard synthesiser. Here I will attempt to give you a bit of information on what the Stage 2 is all about....

  • M-AUDIO VENOM PREVIEW

Posted on February 21, 2011 by Joe Stachowiak

I once DJ’d at a night in Banbury and before my set I got talking to one of the other DJ’s. Naturally, talk turned to music, and I asked him what sort of music he played…the answer I got was a single word, spoken in a deep gravelly voice….‘FILTH!’ I didn’t pry much more! But that guy would probably be a fan of the latest product we have available for pre-order…the M-Audio Venom.

  • DAVE SMITH INSTRUMENTS TEMPEST PREVIEW

Posted on February 17, 2011 by Joe Stachowiak

For me, and also judging by our recent poll, the Dave Smith Tempest was one of the most exciting products to come out of the recent NAMM 2011 show. It wasn’t exciting because it was big, did everything, or offered something completely revolutionary. It was simply exciting because it made fantastic sounds, and brought past analogue technology into one new and modern unit. If you want to get a flavour of the type of sounds that it is capable of producing, then I suggest flicking through the following video:

The Korg Kronos - arguably the most anticipated product of the year (and it's only February!) So it seems only right that I dedicate a blog post to fill you in on what this bad boy can do! • NAMM 2011 BEST PRODUCTS

    NAMM blah blah blah blah.

NAMM blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

    NAMM blah blah blah.

NAMM blah blah blah blah blah.

NAMM blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

    NAMM blah.

Anyone else’s Facebook/Twitter news feed resembled this over the last few days? And before anyone accuses me of being hypocritical, yes, we have also been guilty of feeding the NAMM posting virus!
