AMAZING DUAL-NOVATION LAUNCHPAD VIDEO

If live electronic performance and composition is your thing then you simply have to check out this video. In this video, electronic producer M4SONIC uses two Launchpads (one for each hand) to construct an original composition, with one Launchpad creating the melody and the other triggering percussion samples. Even more impressively, none of the samples are quantized, meaning that each sound is triggered in real-time, as and when he hits the pad! Genius! -

Well, having just reviewed the Native Instruments Maschine Mk2, I am now lucky enough to get my hands on the recently released Akai MPC Studio with its slim silver looks to tempt anyone who is into the world of grooveboxes, loops and samples. There are many discussions and comparisons between Maschine and the different Akai MPC products and when you are trying to make the right choice it is therefore understandably very difficult. For this reason, whilst the main focus of this article will be on the Akai MPC Studio, I will also throw in the occasional comparison to the Maschine Mk2 to assist you folks sitting on the fence.

Check out the video below to see J.Viewz using various pieces of fruit, veg and mushrooms as triggers to recreate Massive Attack's hit song, Teardrop! He even has a carrot taped to a turntable, which hits a trigger on every rotation to produce an extra percussion hit in time with the music! -

PROPELLERHEAD ANNOUNCES REASON 7

Great news for Reason fans! Reason 7 has been announced today and will be shipping from the beginning of May 2013.After listening to their end-users, Propellerhead have included in this latest release, features that many customers have been hankering for - including automatic slicing of audio and the ability to create REX loops without the need for ReCycle, a physical MIDI output to connect keyboards and synths, plus parallel and group channels in the mixer.
Reason 7 will also include a device called Automatic Retro Transformer (think Instagram for audio), some hefty upgrades to the included sound bank, plus a visual EQ and spectrum analyser.
