RME Fireface UCXWhen recording, my aim is nearly always to capture a sound that is as true to the original as possible. If I want to add any character to my sounds, I want my choice of microphone to dictate this and I will leave any additional intentional colouration down to my arsenal of plug-ins, to process the sound once the recording has been captured. This way, I get the maximum flexibility, having full control over what I add or remove from a sound. After all, it’s a lot easier to filth up a clean signal than it is to clean up an already coloured signal! The words ‘polish’ and ‘turd’ come to mind here…
