Pro Tools 10 and Pro Tools|HDX have been announced today! Featuring a wealth of new features including the ability to combine multiple file formats in one project, record and mix 32-bit floating point audio, an improved disk scheduler for faster responsiveness, Clip Gain (set individual levels per audio clip), Audio Suite improvements, ‘bounce to iTunes’ and ‘export to Soundcloud’ functions, EUCON improvements, and new plug-ins including the awesome Avid Channel Strip that uses the same algorithms as the System 5 console, which has been used in numerous professional projects across the world. 
The first major update to PreSonus’ Studio One DAW is due to arrive very soon, on 1st November! But what’s new? We came across this rather cool app the other day… it’s called V-Control Pro by Neyrinck and it allows you to control your favourite DAW (Pro Tools, Logic or Cubase/Nuendo) using the sensitive touchscreen of the iPad!V-Control gives you all the functionality of a dedicated hardware DAW controller plus a lot more, all for a fraction of the price! In fact, even if you don’t currently own an iPad, the cost of the latest iPad plus the V-Control application is still less than half the price of a decent hardware controller! I have been with Cakewalk Sonar Producer since version 6 and having worked myself through the necessary learning curve of a new DAW, I got to the point where I was very happy with 8.5 and all of the many facilities that it provided. For others, Sonar has always been let down by its interface. With Sonar X1, I want to believe that somewhere underneath this new look is my old familiar Sonar 8.5 and that I know exactly what to do. I think however that I have a bit of a learning to do, as well as some un-learning, especially as I understand that many of the keyboard shortcuts have changed.

Presonus have already got us excited about this new update, promising that it will include a host of new features, including one that ‘is quite literally unprecedented in the industry’.
