Don't forget that if you're in the London area tonight, you can join our local consultants Jack and Jon for a free evening looking at and listening to the new Novation Bass Station II analogue synthesiser! Jack and Jon will be joined by Chris from Focusrite Novation, who will be on hand to demo the Bass Station II as well as answer any questions that you have on it. If you feel like it, you'll even be able to get hands-on with the synth for yourself!
Tonight's event will be taking place between 5pm and 8pm at the London School Of Sound (CLICK HERE for directions). Don't forget that we have also added a new Bristol date for demoing the Bass Station II on Thursday 11th July. CLICK HERE for more information on any of these events.
Thanks to everyone that came to our Birmingham event last week. Here are a few pictures of the new Bass Station II from that event:
This month we are excited to announce that we will be hosting two free SSL events in our Bournemouth pro-music superstore. On Saturday 8th June, pop in for an SSL Open Day, where there will be experts on hand and demos being given on a selection of SSL's exciting products.
A little later in the month, on Wednesday 26th June, we will also be holding a free evening where we invite you to attend an exclusive demonstration of the upcoming SSL Sigma remote controlled analogue mix engine.
On top of all this, we also have a massive exclusive deal on the SSL Mynx with Stereo Bus Compressor, which will save you hundreds of pounds, as well as an exciting incentive for anyone thinking of buying an SSL Matrix console.

Novation has been extremely busy this summer, travelling all over the UK showing off their new Bass Station II analogue synth alongside their Launchkey keyboards and Launchpad-S controller, as well as answering questions on any other Novation or Focusrite product. Indeed, last month we were joined by Chris Calcutt who was kind enough to film an in-depth video on the Bass Station II for us - check it out below!
However, we've recently been informed that Novation have added another two days to their schedule: one in Birmingham on Wednesday 12th June and one in Clapham on Tuesday 18th June, both of which will be overseen by our pro audio consultants in those areas. We've also been led to believe that there will be another date added in July with our Bristol team so keep an eye out for that one!
Join us in our café at 1pm on Saturday 1st June for a FREE guitar masterclass with local tutor Simon Wood!
Simon first began teaching in 1995 and has continued ever since, currently tutoring rock guitar at both Canford and Bryanston schools. Simon is an extremely talented guitarist, able to lend his hand to a wide range of styles, from rock, metal, blues, funk, acoustic and even jazz! However, he admits that what most people come to him for is to learn how to play (or get better and quicker at playing) lead and solo guitar.
For just £5, you can get up close and personal with Russ for this unmissable in-store event. To book tickets or for more information, contact Austin (our Drum Manager) on 01202 597180 or [email protected] or click here to buy online.
One of the most exciting announcements this Spring (if not the most exciting) for synth fanatics was the news that the classic Novation Bass Station is backed in a re-worked form for the 21st century! The Bass Station II features a 25-note keyboard along with plenty of hands-on controls for tweaking your sounds to your heart's content! Although the Bass Station II is based on its brother from the 90s (and indeed, it is still fully analogue), this re-incarnation has been drastically re-worked for the modern musician.
On 24th May this year (2013) between 10am and 4pm, we will be joined in our Bournemouth pro-music superstore by an expert from Focusrite Novation who will be giving demonstrations and also answering any questions that you have on the Bass Station II. And, if you've got questions on any other Focusrite or Novation product (e.g. the new Launchpad-S or Launchkey keyboards) then the expert will be on-hand to help out and give demos.
Join us in-store on Thursday 16th May at 7pm where we will be joined by mix engineer Gary Bromham (Björk, Sheryl Crow) and game composer/Propellerhead specialist Mattias Häggström Gerdt, who will be looking at the new and improved Reason 7 DAW software from a producer's perspective, focusing on how the software can inspire you and improve your production techniques. If you're a Reason user or you're thinking about getting it then this event is an absolute must! Oh yeah, and best of all it's completely FREE!
Please note that although this is a free event, registration is required to attend. CLICK HERE to register online - it takes less than a minute. We hope to see you here!
On 16th of March 2013, we once again took part in Learn To Play Day in aid of the Music For All charity. We spent the whole day giving FREE music lessons and workshops in our pro-music superstore and studios and the day was a huge success! We were completely blown away by the turn-out! We reckon we had over 2500 people though the door and it felt amazing to see so many people getting excited about learning musical instruments. A huge thanks to all our staff, tutors and acts who worked so hard to make the day a success, and of course a massive thanks to everyone that turned up and supported us! We couldn't have done it without you! Check out some of the highlights in the pictures below...
Absolute Music Managing Director Alan Barclay says a few words before the start of Learn To Play Day 2013 alongside the Mayor of Bournemouth.
Check out our promo video for the recent Learn To Play Day Event that we hosted in our pro-music superstore in Bournemouth in aid of the Music For All Charity on 16th March 2013. The aim of the day was to get everyone playing a musical instrument and we ran free lessons and workshops throughout the day! Although it's been and gone we thought that we'd include this video on our site because we think that it's worth a watch anyway! Enjoy!
